Vakuform products comprise of a unique combination of vacuum technology and a highly flexible, neoprene material. It is possible to adjust the cushions to the optimum shape for the client even for extreme postural shapes.

The cushion contains stable, extremely fine polystyrene balls. The cushion is made of 3 mm nylon-jersey coated neoprene. The cushion cover and the lining are made of different elastic woven-mesh spacer fabric material,
to maintain an optimum microclimate at the client/seat interface. Cushions and covers can be disinfected.

Setting up:

Air is pumped into the cushion to make it soft, it is then fitted to the body shape dynamically, the air is then vacuumed out resulting in a firm cushion which is a perfect negative image of the body shape.

Advantages:

The adjustment of the cushion to the anatomical surface shape of the human body changes the ratio between weight and surface area thereby reducing the pressure load in ”at risk” areas because pressure is distributed more evenly across the whole surface. In contrast to conventional adjustable methods of inflexible materials, the highly flexible Vakuform products guarantee consistent, fast and problem free adjustments of the pad to altered position or anatomical changes.

Application examples:

Vakuform products are used successfully in hospitals, residences for disabled people, therapeutic centres, rest homes and in the home.

Vakuform products are used for people with many types of physical disability, as a seat frame lining or for whole body protection, for realigning posture and as a supportive system.

Products available:

Full seat, back support, base cushion, head supports, arm supports, leg supports, lying/sleep systems. Products are available as standard ‘off the shelf’ or made to measure.

Vakuform is also available as a full body Lying Support.

Modular Seating System: Evolution

With the new Evolution seat, Vakuform is available in an adaptable, modular system which unites the adaptability of Vakuform cushions with the practical and physical properties of a modular seating system in a complete seating system.

The interchangeability of single elements, the high shifting area of hard frame and vacuum upholstery, including doubly anatomical fulcrum and the precast belt guidances allow an exact and quick adjustment on site to you. 13 components from high-strength aluminium alloy are connected to make three different sized seats. Suitable sizes from child to adults are possible.

This hybrid seating system will satisfy the demands of complex clients and satisfy the expectations of therapists and carers.
